Sample Script:

Hi everyone! I’d like to share a cause that’s really close to my heart: DC Forensic Nurse Examiners. The nurses at DCFNE are on call 24/7, 365 days a year, to care for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence when it matters most.

They understand the impact of trauma on a patient’s health and well-being, and the expert care that they provide may be the first step on the road to healing.

But showing up in this way, again and again, is not easy. From rigorous training, to long hours, to the weight of vicarious trauma, the work of a forensic nurse is exceptionally challenging.

On May 12, DCFNE is participating in Spur Local’s Give Greater DC campaign. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to support the health and well-being of these incredible nurses. I hope you’ll consider giving whatever you can.

Visit dcfne.org and click “donate” to give today. Every gift, no matter how small, helps empower DCFNE’s nurses to continue this critical work. Thank you so much for your support!

Tips for Recording:

  • Film vertically: Most social media platforms favor vertical videos. Selfie-style is perfect!

  • Use good lighting: Stand facing a window or a bright light so your face is clearly visible. Avoid backlighting.

  • Background matters: Choose a tidy, calm space. Avoid noisy or distracting areas.

  • Sound quality: Ensure your voice is clear; if needed, use earbuds with a built-in mic.

  • Keep it short and sweet: Aim for 30–60 seconds. Shorter videos are more likely to be watched all the way through.

  • Be yourself: Speak like you would to a friend. Authenticity is more persuasive than perfect wording.
